John’s work is amazing! He really had his work cut out for him with my old 667 and it was obvious that plenty of TLC was put into my horn while it was in his care. Can’t thank him enough!

Having worked with John in the repair shop, I have been able to see his quality and careful work. Everything is always completed with the highest quality and craftsmanship. In addition to his work, John is a very caring man, who will help out whenever he is able!

John is a outstanding craftsman and wonderful musician! I was having tendon trouble in my left hand and he was able to customize my trigger so that I could comfortably play again. My horn looks and plays great with the modification, and I was able to play some duets with him at the shop after the work was done. I’d recommend him to anyone who needs quality work on their instrument.

John has developed an incredible talent for brass work. He has proven himself and made a name in the repair industry. CIOMIT is very proud to have him as one of our alumni

I had the privilege of meeting John at the 2017 Midsouth workshop, where I purchased a Yamaha 671 conversion from him. The horn is beautiful to look at and wonderful to play, and I am in awe of the level of craftsmanship John puts into his work. More than that, though, John is an incredibly friendly, helpful person, even going so far as to chat with me on the phone when I had some questions about the horn. I simply can’t recommend John and Elemental Brass enough.

My horn had some dents that were in tough places to work on. Other repairmen had told me that the entire horn would have to be taken apart, and I was certainly looking at multiple weeks of not having my instrument, not to mention the shipping fees. John fixed even the most difficult dents and installed a hand rest for me in just one morning! The price was incredible, especially for the quality of work that accompanied it. I had a wonderful time learning about the professional world of musicianship, instrument repair work, and life in general while John worked away. Overall it was a 6/5 star experience, and I would highly recommend that brass players of all calibers visit Elemental Brass and meet its fantastic owner. Thank you so much, and I hope your business is continually successful!

John Gough is a true artist of his craft. I had an accident yesterday after the Boston Brass show and the 3rd slide of my flugel stopped working. Tonight he had the courtesy to see me and take care of this very quickly and professionally. It works perfectly again. Thank you man for being a great person as well as a great professional. He is also an awesome horn player and horn builder to top it off!!! Lucky to call you my friend.

John Gough is the horn guru/repairman we have been needing in Nashville for decades! So thrilled he has chosen to live here and hope he and Lauren will put down roots. The improvement made to my daughter’s cornet was incredible. He got us in and out in around an hour, including ultrasonic cleaning and duets:)
The fee was very reasonable and I loved that I didn’t have to leave the instrument there for weeks.
I was also privileged to try out his custom made horn, and I absolutely loved it.....
The slurs are like velvet, the high notes pop out to the point of sounding easy! There was excellent response throughout all the registers and the tone sounds warm and beautiful, so resonant. I love my Berg, but maybe next Christmas???
— Jennifer Dugle Kummer, Nashville Recording artist-Horn
I am extremely excited to see what John Gough does with Elemental Brass! Knowing John first as a player and colleague, I have absolutely no doubts that his dedication to this craft is just as astonishing as his performing. Knowing he is “one of us,” I am assured that his attention to detail and level of care for my best interest is always present! Thank you for all of your hard work.
