The EB1 Custom Horn

A great horn is hard to come by. Ask any horn player and they can tell you stories of dozens of horns they have tried and why each one is great but not "the one". "The one" is the horn that speaks to you and allows you to truly express the talents and ideas you are proud of!

Why the EB1?...

EB1...

Fantastic Craftsmanship...

With the experience of a professional craftsman trained by some of the best horn builders and repairmen in the world and guided by his own career as a professional hornist, John creates each EB1 to be played by the best and to stand up to the demands of the most discerning of musicians. Performing internationally and working as a freelancer with orchestras and recording studios in the Nashville area, John demands the best of quality from his horn and plays an EB1 in all of his performances and recording engagements. It is this experience and demand for quality that guides the production of each horn!

Innovative Design...

While many many variations of the Geyer double horn have surfaced and continue to appear year after year, there is much still to be done. With strategic and minimal bracing guided by ideas found in studying structural engineering, this horn looks gorgeous and resonates freely. This allows a tremendously responsive horn that maintains a remarkably stable and yet easily workable and projecting tone.

The Fit and FEEL...

The attention to detail is not only cosmetic. All choices for angle of pipes, placement of adjustable hand rests, finger hooks and thumb keys, is made with an ergonomic solution in mind. While each player is slightly different, for the most-part human physiology remains constant and yet remains ignored by most. In other words...there are certain rules that should be followed when designing how your horn feels to hold and often times...they are broken. These shortcuts can lead to playing issues and complaints of comfort. The EB1 makes your horn a pleasure to hold and easily play for extended periods of time.

The EB1 Leadpipe is the heart of this horn. . .

A tremendous amount of time, research, experimentation and pure determination came together to create this crucial part of the EB1's success. The EB1 pipe was designed to be free blowing, respond easily in all registers, carry a beautiful and consistent tone throughout the full range of the horn and to play with perfect intonation. The characteristic quality of this pipe is the clear and ringing tone it delivers. Not only dedicated to the EB1 custom horn, the EB1 pipe has been found to be an excellent upgrade to a horn looking to move forward! This pipe can also be found on our EB-667 conversion horns!
